April 11, 2007 - Skagit Valley Herald - Fluoride decision set for next month The Skagit County commissioners will make a decision on whether to fluoridate the water for most of the county on May 15, and they’re likely to vote yes. “I can’t say whether, or guarantee to people, that there will never be a harmful effect that comes from fluoridating the water,” Munks said. But he said the benefits he has seen in Anacortes appear to outweigh the risk. What benefits, Mr. Munks? Where are the double-blind studies that back up your bogus claims? How many people are being given antidepressants to treat undiagnosed hypothyroidism that is, in fact, the direct result of ingested fluoride? Up until the 1950s, European doctors used fluoride to reduce the activity of the thyroid gland for people suffering from overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). The daily dose of fluoride which people are now receiving in fluoridated communities (1.6 to 6.6 mg/day) actually exceeds the dose of fluoride found to depress the thyroid gland (2.3 to 4.5 mg/day).
April 18, 2007 - The Argus - Commissioners to make fluoride decision next month Dahlstedt stated that the board of health must look out for the good of all the people in the county. "Choice is a good thing but one of the challenges we have is that many of the people that don't use (fluoride) drops are on limited financial resources and the end result is that people who can't take care of their teeth, all of the public pays for it." A 12-year-old Maryland boy lies dead and was buried in February. The water supply in Prince George's County is fluoridated, averaging 0.92 ppm in 2005. A lot of good fluoridated water did for him and his family. The lie that is water fluoridation is right under the nose of Mr. Dahlstedt! Corporate giving is poised to masquerade as concern for public health — with the permission of two of Skagit County's Commissioners!

Still More Slanted Journalism from Mount Vernon's Daily Paper May 14, 2007 - Skagit Valley Herald - Fluoride decision expected Tuesday Skagit Clean Water spoke at length with staff writer Franny White regarding the Constitutional issues that will prevent any fluoridation mandate from being fulfilled. Not a single word was printed! The writer also claims that Skagit Clean Water spent "about $6,800" during the Proposition 2 campaign. The fact is that a total of $2,954.05 went to our expenditures!
